Parts supply firm wins Queens Award for the third time in succession.
Plant Parts Ltd is proud to announce that they have been awarded the most prestigious business award in the UK for the third time in succession, The Queen's Award for Enterprise. Plant Parts has been trading for 22 years specialising in the supply of spare parts for construction machinery, they have once again been given the award in the category for International Trade.
The business began trading in 1991 and quickly found its niche supplying parts for Komatsu construction equipment and repairing excavator final drives. In 1995 it moved to larger premises and changed status to a limited company. Moving again in 2006 to purpose built offices, warehousing and workshops of almost 12,000ft the company is well placed to meet the needs of its customers and has a reputation for first-rate product knowledge and parts availability.
The company continues to invest in product and customer support IT systems enabling it to provide an industry leading service to customers and the company puts much of its award winning achievement down to the accessibility of product information, “Many of our customers call us for parts in a breakdown situation and they need to know “when can I have it and how much?” said Mr Robert Finch, IT Director at Plant Parts. “We have equipped our sales and support staff with the tools to answer those questions quickly and efficiently. We believe good customer service is the key to success.”
Plant Parts has also enlarged its warehouse to accommodate an ever-expanding product range. “We have to move with the times”, Mr Richard Finch, Managing Director said, “it is imperative that we continually monitor our enquiries to be sure we stock current model parts in demand from our customers”.
The Final Drive Business.
Modern track laying machines such as excavators move forward and back by driving each track separately using a hydraulic motor and gearbox assembly known as a final drive. It is a major component of the machine and Plant Parts Ltd offers a “one stop solution” for final drive problems under its FDC (Final Drive Centre) brand name.
The FDC brand is now sold under our Preferred Partner Program throughout Europe, North America, Australasia and South Africa. Our Preferred Partner Program has been developed over the last two years and is now driving export sales. It has at its core our FDS (Final Drive System) knowledge base that helps our partners and our own sales team in all aspects of sales and support. The Directors believe this strategic innovation will power future growth in sales of final drives.
The company stocks between 800 – 1000 new final drives at any one time from all the major brands to fit excavators, crushers or any tracked machine from 1.5 – 50 tons operating weight. With a dedicated workshop and large parts stock the company can repair most drives it is presented with very quickly. Nothing leaves the workshop without being fully tested and all reconditioned drives are guaranteed. Investment in specialist equipment and motivated and dedicated staff has resulted in very high standards. As time permits the workshop also prepares reconditioned drives for sale on an exchange basis. So sales, service, repair and good advice are all available.
Komatsu Parts Business.
“We made a decision early on to concentrate our efforts on providing parts for one brand” says Robert Finch “on the basis that we did not want to become a Jack of all trades.” The company now specialises in Komatsu parts and is sole UK distributor for leading brands of aftermarket parts. Quality is vital and Plant Parts only offer non-genuine items when completely confident in them. Genuine, reconditioned and surplus Komatsu parts are also stocked and Plant Parts has built a network of like-minded dealers around the world to be able to offer our customers the best possible deal on any Komatsu part.
Since the award assessment period the company has grown further, now employing 16 full time staff with plans to add to that number later in the year.
Managing Director Mr Richard Finch said of the award, “I am delighted for the whole team; to win three times is testament to the motivation, hard work and commitment of everyone at Plant Parts.”
